Hi from Grand Rapids, MI

29:47
Hello everyone. My name is Andrew. I'm a US citizen but work with Audubon's international partner BirdLife Australia in our policy and advocacy team. Looking forward to the townhall!

30:14
I am 69 years old.

30:30
Give it one more minute and then start?

30:46
Who is this dude in the silly cowboy hat ?

30:46
Greetings. How long will this meeting last?

30:55
Hello Marshall-so great to see you. Chris Canfield

31:10

Jeffrey DeCristofaro, He/Him/His, Asheville, NC

34:12
Yea, closed captioning!

35:55
Marshall, I really like your wood duck model on the display case behind you! They nest at lake near where I live in San Diego.

43:03
Speaking of wind power, what is Audobon’s position on its expansion.

43:33
The movie "Kiss the Ground" is wonderful for advocating for changes in farming.

43:52
farming

46:57
Will a transcript of this meeting be available?

50:45

Sandy Smith here.

52:57
What state is it in?

53:23
Where is Tongass?

59:02
Here are three links folks can follow to learn about the potential environmental disaster at Utah’s Great Salt Lake, and how you can take action to help protect this hemispherically important habitat.https://www.saveourgreatsaltlake.org/https://greatsaltlakeaudubon.org/https://www.fogsl.org/

01:00:10
Agree with Sarah that we really need to step up efforts to protect habitat of the Greater Sage-Grouse. The males make one of the most distinctive, wonderful sounds heard in nature!

01:00:17
You can take action to protect Greater Sage-Grouse habitat here: https://act.audubon.org/a/sage-grouse-management?ms=townhall

01:01:10
Sara this info is so critical. I just want to encourage you keep your volume up at the end of sentences. It tends to fall precipitously before every period, and makes it sound like you are muttering (which you are surely not!).

01:01:15
please share these links in a post gram email.

01:01:56
I would recommend panelists present without reading their presentation but rather speak from their knowledge and expertise perhaps with notes handy to address all points. It seems the reading increases the speed of speech and is a monotone. I always find spoken from one’s own knowledge rather than reading a presentation is always a more interesting and memorable. Even if a few points are forgotten to be mentioned.

01:02:03
post PROgram email

01:02:06
It would be nice if we could save the chat; prevents mis-typing web addresses, and other conveniences.

01:02:19
in Wyoming all wildlife seems to be in peril...grouse, wolf, buffalo, heartbreaking!!

01:04:06
All; Please be active with your local Green Party organization to gain ballot access, elect eco candidates, and stop the gerrymander.

01:05:14
I have worked on this bill in other sections of it. The bill itself is dead. So realistically what hope is here for introducing other sections of it as stand alone bills

01:07:33
You can also take action and support the Build Back Better Act:https://act.audubon.org/a/build-back-better-senate-1?ms=townhall

01:07:41
Excellent summary of status of BBB, Mike. Thank you!

01:07:55
I’d like a lot more specifics about how the BBB will actually happen.

01:09:49
I don’t know if you discussed the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act. Is the Audubon working to get that passed.

01:09:50
what is the policy on plastics/micro plastics pollution?

01:11:06
You can get more information on our clean energy program at the webinar on Feb. 17:https://act.audubon.org/a/wind-power-and-clean-energy-transition?ms=townhall

01:13:32
Asked this in q & a but: For the Build Back Better Act, why not try to get some Republican Senators to back it. Forinstance, Maine should benefit—Susan Collins? There are others. Pls approach them.

01:14:28
Are there any current updates on the Currituck Sound Marsh Conservation Plan?

01:14:31
Is National Audubon working on the rule defining "Waters of the U.S." (WOTUS) for the Clean Water Act?

01:14:40
I would like to have small cards to hand out to people about these policies so that when I talk with people I meet on a trail I can just hand them a card with a link and short key points.

01:15:05
I don't trust government to step up. What can we as individuals do?

01:16:05
What about efforts to reach out to children and youth, especially People of Color?

01:18:26
What is being done to require commercial/private developers to stop using non-bird safe glass?

01:20:30
We do have a RAWA action alert available: Here is a link to our RAWA action alert: https://act.audubon.org/a/recovering-americas-wildlife-act-2021-1?ms=policy-adv-web-website_nas-x-20210400-rawa-engagement_card

01:21:04
Will we please stop calling it the Christmas Bird Count...microaggression against Jews and Muslims and everybody else who doesn't celebrate the Xmas holiday. It's been a couple years of "internal study", havent

01:21:14
we studied it enough?

01:21:17
There was recent talk that RAWA would be rolled into other legislation in the near future. I think that's what the previous question was hinting at.

01:21:51
we need outreach to elementary school kids - a call for volunteers to speak

01:21:56
Federal government stopped calling December celebrations "Xmas" decades ago... let's get up to speed

01:22:19
Working on building a advocacy/policy biodiversity youth network - that we would love to work with Audubon with partnering - We are working on the Convention for Biological Diversity - would love to connect later - Daniel@jaijagatus.org -- http://gybn.org (GYBN US Chapter)

01:22:26
- Dan :)

01:22:41
What do we do about people who ride ATV vehicles on land that disturb Sandhill Cranes and other birds on City Land that has no trespassing signs?

01:22:58
Thanks very much for this update. I learned a lot. Thanks for all your hard work. This all really makes me want to write more letters, etc. I'm inspired!

01:24:46
Thank you so much for hosting this Town Hall, providing an update on legislation, and current advocacy work.

01:25:07
I thought the Amazon was the largest? Gary V

01:25:51
Why don't you answer my question? Because you are taking the side of the people who ride the ATV vehicles?? That is what I am assuming, so much for support from Audubon.

01:26:46
Here is the information Melinda referenced: https://www.audubon.org/conservation/climate/naturalsolutions

01:27:13
Thanks so much .. wish I could stay longer but really appreciate info .. and will take advantage of resources provided

01:27:29
Thank you, Melinda and Marisa.

01:27:44
Thanks to all.

01:29:20
Great question. Thank you, Sheldon. I did not dive into what carbon sinks and stores are because of the time constraints. Hope the report is helpful.

01:30:05
July 21-25 in Tacoma.

01:30:23
Please allow ample time to make travel arrangements, etc. if the convention will, in fact, be happening.

01:31:25
Thank you to all.

01:31:31
thanks so much-I have learned a lot of valuable information.

01:31:51
